Losing weight over the past month

Looking at the scale this morning I see that I’ve been dropping weight. I’ve lost about 12 pounds in the past month. From a high of almost 160 lbs to 148 lbs. Most people would rejoice and celebrate with a trip to Cold Stone. Problem is, I am trying to gain weight!

The good thing is, based on the way I’ve been lifting the past few days, my strength is now back up to an all-time high.

I think a lot of it had to do with my fast a few weeks ago . That took me down about 6 pounds. Even after coming back to civilization, I still managed to lose a few more pounds. My strength, however, is increasing. The only explanation I can think of is that my body cleansed a lot of garbage out during my fast, and I’ve continued the detox process even after returning home. My body fat percentage is staying stable.

I was reading some research studies the other day, and it seems that the typical American holds between 5-10 pounds of “garbage” in their digestive track, an another 3-5 pounds of undigested meat. This stuff just sits there and festers. I don’t eat meat, and my diet if pretty darn clean so I figured my system was already super clean.

However, after my fast, I realized that I too had been carrying around more than my fair share of crap and toxins. When you don’t eat for three days, and after breaking your fast with a bowl of soup have to run to the bathroom and “double-flush”…you know your body was sick inside.

It is disgusting, but it is the truth.
