I like simple things. I like big plain salads. I like plain shirts. I like acoustic music. I like meditation. I like using my own two feet to get somewhere instead of driving. I like writing….and of course, I like blogging.
There is something incredibly simple and natural about writing a journal. I consider blogging essentially a journal. This journal could be about politics, digital photography, your travels, your life…or even (as is so popular with so many blogs nowadays) how to make income from blogging.
The topic is not the issue, only the manner in which it is done. It is the simplicity, honesty and openness of blogging that is the appeal.
Sort of like Winnie The Pooh.
If you’ve read, the Tao of Pooh, you know exactly what I am talking about.
“Tao”, in it’s most literal meaning, means “The Way.”
“Tao”, in it’s most literal meaning, means “The Way.” It is a term that refers to the interactive and symbiotic relationship that one has with nature. A person following the Tao does not try to obstruct natural processes taking place.
Instead, there is a desire to cultivate an awareness and acceptance of the true nature of things, whatever that may be. For better or worse. Clarity and objectivity are key.
An aspect of Taoism that captures its essence, is known as “P’u,”. P’u in literal terms, means “uncarved block.” A Taoist is urged think about situations in a completely objective manner, in the same way that uncarved block of wood has not been molded into any form.
The mind must become free. Freedom from any preconceived notions. Freedom from any prejudices or bigotry. Freedom from assumptions of what an outcome might be. It is in this awareness that peace and true understanding are possible.
For me, there is a Tao of Blogging.
- When you blog, you do not have to be right; just honest.
- In keeping your writing simple, you allow the true meaning to really shine though.
- In fostering a community, and interacting with your readers, you allow you own boundaries and perspectives to widen.
- In evolving your opinions as you learn and grow; you allow others to follow you down the path and share in your learning.
I started this blog expecting to share a few tips about personal development. I now realize that goal is not possible to achieve.
This blog is really becoming a journey. Many of my ideas and ideals have been changing as I experiment with different techniques and grow. This blog is really a journey of discovery. In the process I hope to learn a lot…and hope you will as well.
